What are the minimum and maximum play area when using more than two steamvr base stations 2 0.
Vr minimum room size.
There s no minimum for seated and standing experiences.
For example a 3 5 m x 3 5 m around 11 ft 5 in x 11 ft 5 in space.
Room scale vr requires a minimum of 2 x 1 5 meters but vr applications may specify a larger minimum required size.
However a valve hardware survey found that of those adopting the htc vive 81 5 percent were using room scale vr with the minimum required space at 2 x 1 5 meters.
Vive requires a minimum play area of 1 5m by 2m or 5ft by 6 5ft.
The valve partnered htc vive comes with the dual lighthouse laser tracking room scaling solution which set the standard in room scale vr.
Some vr content is designed to scale based on the play area size effectively giving the best experience to players with a large play area while still supporting a smaller minimum size.
My initial roomscale plot was exactly that size and any smaller would have just been a pain in the ass.

For room scale setup a minimum play area of 2 m x 1 5 m 6 ft 6 in x 5 ft is required.
Movement within a diagonal area of up to 5 m 16 ft 4 in is supported.
The maximum area with four base stations is up to 10 m x 10 m 32 ft 10 in x 32 ft 10 in.
The minimum play area remains to be at 2 m x 1 5 m 6 ft 6 in x 5 ft and could support sitting standing setup with four base stations in a row.
The two lighthouses that track your movement cannot be more than 5m 16ft apart.
A lot of steam vr games have a minimum of 2m x 1 5m or 2m x 2m so aiming for that would be best.
You really want at least the suggested minimum of 7 by 5 feet.
For room scale vr you will need a minimum of 2 meters by 1 5 meters of free space 6 5ft x 5ft and the maximum distance between base stations is 5 meters 16ft.
Steamvr also supports standing only vr which is simply defined as a 1 meter diameter circle.
